swinging skirts for spring
About a month ago I got a job in construction, which is wildly different from anything I’ve ever done before. But it pays nice, I really enjoy my job, and those are both very important things. But seeing as how I have to wear jeans to work everyday I’ve found that on my days off I don’t want to wear pants at all. Or shoes. So I’ve gone full fledged to wearing skirts, dresses, and sandals. Much more feminine than my usual off day outfits. But I like it!
I don’t have very many casual dresses, three to be exact, so I’ve been browsing the web looking for some nice new ones to get after a few weeks. These are some of my favorites from ASOS:
- ASOS Skater Dress in Pretty Wallpaper Print
- ASOS Midi Summer Dress with Rope Print
- ASOS Sleeveless Skater Dress with Belt in Spot Print
- ASOS Body Conscious Dress in Rocco Print
- ASOS Pinafore Dress with Buckles
- Warehouse Scallop Dress
- ASOS Midi Dress with Full Skirt
- Warehouse One Shoulder Ruffle Dress
- River Island Zig Zag Textured Skater Dress
Apparently skater dress is a new thing… or else it’s a term I’ve never seen thrown around before. But THAT is my ideal daydress style. Today I’ve been wearing the Firenze Tank Dress by Pyramid Collection and it is so very comfortable. I need to get a picture but it’s dark outside and the living room is chaos so that will have to wait for another day.
Also, just read this lovely post by Mara of Tickled Pink about dyeing clothes… so tempting!

wrapped for early spring
I love pairing this gradient scarf with my flower clips as often as possible. I think the yellow pops really nicely. And since early spring tends to get a little nippy, I like wearing this scarf since I can use it as a headwrap as well. No midseason sniffles for me!

oreos in your hair hat
I made this hat for Andy but he said he doesn’t really like the loose way that it fits. I made it extra big since he has a large head and wasn’t available to size. But it works out because I love the way it fits loose and comfy on my head.

purple gradient hat
Made for a relative, this is the softest hat on the planet. I plan on buying more of this type of cushy wool blend in different colors to make some more!

kind of a mess – 23 March 2012
I hadn’t had a chance to play around with my mehndi for a while so it did not turn out at all as planned. I didn’t like it and didn’t document the after result. Mostly because I tried to rub out most of it. Thankfully it’s mostly faded by now so I can start over soon.

complex handwork – 24 November 2011
An attempt to try something more complex and circular. The flowers on my fingers looked kind of terrible but it’s all a learning process.

wrist cuff – 18 November 2011
This is by far my favorite design, combined from a few different ideas. It turned out so splendidly that I was quite sad to see it fade away. I’ll probably recreate it in the future.

flowers and things – 15 November 2011
I went a bit crazy this time since I had a lot of mehndi made up. I did bearclaw on my hand (heavily inspired by a quip on Archer) and then flowers all over the place. Kind of a meandering practice.

handwrap – 09 November 2011
Had a bunch of different ideas going into this but the main focus was to wrap my hand with various design styles.
