It's one of the jokes of this century that every fool with a camera thinks they are a photographer. Add me to that list! It's a fun, fascinating way of building up on memories and finding new ways to experience life.
I've made many attempts to maintain a photoblog but I'm starting to realize (after 5 years) that I'm just too lazy to keep such a project updated. So these are some random pictures from my flickr account. Yay!
Flowers, nature, and reflections are some of my favorite types of shots. I also like mixing unexpected humor in my work as well.
Portraiture is something I'm avoiding at this point, although my family would tell you different. But I feel I must get better by practicing and who better to practice on than relatives unable to escape a dinner party? Really.
Many of my favorite photographs are those that make you reexamine your perspective, so I try to do that occasionally as well. But mostly I take pictures of things that I find pretty and would like to look over later.
While I'm proficient at image manipulation, I very rarely use it. Almost every picture on my flickr is raw, straight-out-of-camera. Because I'm lazy. =P Or you could say it is because so many things in nature are perfect already and need no further embellishments.
Equipment:
- Nikon D40 - the best camera in the world
- Lenses - 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 50mm
- Canon Powershot SD 1200 - my spunky blue snapshot camera
To continue the fun, I have two categories on la caotica that feature all my photos and my monthly family portraits. The latter is updated... hardly ever because I'm terrible at these things. It's a work in progress. =D
I also have a cell phone snapshots tag on suprafae, but it's mostly for random shots. Also my cell phone is not a fancy-dance piece with a high quality camera but it does what I need and keeps me happy. Happyish. Happy enough.
Ok fine, I would be ecstatic to own an iPhone but that is a frivalous upgrade when I have a perfectly serviceable phone and two wonderful cameras. Can you tell I have to keep telling myself this? =D
